Garett MONIAS

Hello, I’m Garett Monias, and I am proud to say that Heart Lake First Nation has always been my home. Born and raised here, I am one of five boys in the Monias family. My parents, Rosalyn Monias and Wilfred Cardinal, instilled in me the values of hard work, community, and commitment that guide me every day.

Family means everything to me. I am blessed with three wonderful children—one son and two daughters, one being a bonus daughter. My fiancée, Maylani, and I are excited about building our future together and continuing to contribute to the Heart Lake community we all cherish.

​

For the past three years, I’ve had the honor of serving as a councilor for Heart Lake First Nation. It has been a rewarding journey filled with growth and meaningful achievements. I’ve had the privilege of working alongside my brother, Chief Curtis Monias, and fellow councillor Jenny Ladoceur. Their guidance and support have been pivotal as I navigated my first term in this role.

During my time on the council, we’ve made significant strides together. I've been apart of bringing new homes to families, making a substantial progress on the Cow N Plows project, and initiated other important developments. These achievements are a testament to what we can accomplish when we work together with a shared vision for our community.

Looking ahead, I am eager to continue serving as your councilor. My vision for our future includes expanding housing opportunities, supporting families, and bringing exciting new projects to Heart Lake—like a new school for our children, which aligns with the goals my brother, Chief Curtis Monias, has for our community.

I am deeply committed to making Heart Lake an even better place for our kids and their future. With your support, I hope to continue working alongside our leadership to bring positive changes and ensure a bright future for all our community members.
